राधे-राधे महाराज जी। महाराज जी, ये प्रश्न मेरे जैसे कई छात्राओं का है: "जब हम पूरी लगन, मेहनत और ईमानदारी से पढ़ाई करते हैं फिर भी बार-बार असफलता मिलती है। उस स्थिति में मन में अवसाद और शरीर में निराशा आ जाती है। क्या परीक्षा हमारे चैप्टर से अलग होती है?"

महाराज जी की वाणी:

क्या सिलेबस के बाहर से परीक्षा होती है या फिर चेकिंग में पक्षपात रहता है?

"हम केवल इतना जानना चाहते हैं कि हमारी जो भी परीक्षा होती है वह हमारे चैप्टर (सिलेबस) (Syllabus) के अंतर्गत ही प्रश्न होता है। जो हमारे क्लास का चैप्टर है उसी के अंतर्गत क्या हम सही उत्तर लिखेंगे तो क्या हमको असफलता मिलेगी? क्या जांच में पक्षपात रहता है क्या?
तो अगर हमने सही उत्तर लिखा होता तो मुझे असफलता ना मिलती। सही उत्तर ना लिखने का कारण अपने चैप्टर को सही ढंग से स्वाध्याय ना करना है। यह हमारी गलती है। यह बात लोग गलत कहते हैं कि हम प्रयत्न करने पर भी असफल रहे। तुम्हारा प्रयत्न ही ठीक नहीं था।"

जब पढ़ाई का समय है, बॉयफ्रेंड गर्लफ्रेंड बनाएंगे

"कौन सी बच्चियां आजकल हैं जो ब्रह्मचर्य पर ध्यान दे रही हैं? कौन से बच्चे ऐसे हैं जो ब्रह्मचर्य पर ध्यान दे रहे हैं? जब आपके पढ़ाई का समय है, आप बॉयफ्रेंड बनाएंगे, आप गर्लफ्रेंड बनाएंगे, आप गंदे बातें करेंगे। आप गंदे चैप्टर अपने दिमाग में रखेंगे, तो अपने स्वाध्याय का चैप्टर आप कहां रखेंगे? तो फेल तो हो ही जाएंगे।"

"सचिव, वैद, गुरु—तीनों जो प्रिय बोले भया आस, राज-धर्म-तन तीन कर हो बेगह नास। यदि संत जन, गुरुदेव जन अपने शिष्य जनों या अपने प्रियजनों को मुँहपरि बात करें, वह ठीक नहीं है। उसका नाश हो जाएगा। अगर वैद्य रोगी के अनुकूल बोलेगा तो नाश हो जाएगा। अगर मंत्री राजा के अनुकूल बोलेगा तो नाश हो जाएगा। मंत्री को चाहिए राजनीति के अनुकूल बोले। वैद्य को चाहिए स्वास्थ्य के अनुकूल बोले। गुरु को चाहिए कि शिष्य का मंगल हो, ऐसा अनुकूल बोले।"

"तो आप हमें यह विचार बता दीजिए कि अपने चैप्टर से अलग प्रश्न अगर दिया जाए तब तो हो कि हमारा प्रयत्न सफल हो गया। अपने चैप्टर पर अगर हम हैं तो हम फेल नहीं हो सकते।"

विद्या अध्ययन के लिए एक तपस्वी का जीवन व्यतीत करना पड़ता है

"अपना चैप्टर बदल दिया। एक 17 साल की बच्ची जहां बैठे हुए कह रही थी: 'मैं शराब पीती हूं। मैं सिगरेट पीती हूं।' यहीं बैठकर बोली थी। तो जब हम प्रायः बच्चों और बच्चियों से बात करते हैं, तो शायद ही ऐसी कोई बच्ची होगी जिसके बॉयफ्रेंड ना हो। शायद कोई बच्चा हो जिसके गर्लफ्रेंड ना हो। नहीं, तो प्रायः इस गंदगी में बह रहे हैं बच्चे। अब जब तुमने इंद्रियों की विलासिता स्वीकार कर ली, व्यसन स्वीकार कर लिया, तो विद्या अध्ययन कर पाओगे? विद्या अध्ययन के लिए एक तपस्वी का जीवन व्यतीत करना पड़ता है।"

बचपन में पढ़े ग्रन्थ आज भी बिलकुल याद है

"ब्रह्मचारी पवित्र आहार, समय से उठना, समय से सोना और आप फेल हो जाओ तो हमें बताओ। बचपन से ग्रंथ पढ़ रहे हैं। इतने-इतने मोटे धर्म ग्रंथ हैं। आज आप प्रश्न कर रहे हो, उन्हीं से उत्तर दे रहे हैं। शास्त्रों का स्वाध्याय ना किए हो तो उत्तर कहां से आएगा? धर्मयुक्त उत्तर होना चाहिए, ऐसा नहीं कि मनमाने हंसी मजाक हो। तस्मा शास्त्रं प्रमाणं ते कार्याकायर व्यवस्थितम्। एक भी शब्द मिस्टेक नहीं पाओगे, ढूंढ लो, किसी ग्रंथ में लिखा मिलेगा। ऐसे नहीं कि जो मन में आया सो बोल दिया, तुम्हें संतुष्ट कर दिया।"

ये काम नहीं करोगे तो दिमाग काम नहीं करेगा

"तो भाई, यदि आप ब्रह्मचर्य नहीं रहोगे, आप धर्म से नहीं चलोगे, आप पवित्र भोजन नहीं करोगे, तो आपका दिमाग ही काम नहीं करेगा, तो फेल तो हो ही जाओगे ना। एक जगह हम मानते हैं कि आपने बहुत ग्रेजुएट पढ़ाई की, आपने अच्छी पढ़ाई की। इसके बाद आपको नौकरी नहीं मिल रही, यह हम मान सकते हैं कि तुम्हारा बुरा प्रारब्ध है, तुम्हारा बुरा भाग्य है जो तुम्हें आगे नहीं बढ़ने दे रहा, लेकिन फेल होने में हम नहीं मान सकते। फेल होने में भाग्य नहीं, तुम्हारी असफलता है। तुम्हारा प्रमाद है। तुम्हारी गंदी बातें हैं।"

"जो तुम मोबाइल में समय देते हो, जो तुम गंदी बातों में समय देते हो, अगर अपने चैप्टर पर समय दो तो आप कंठस्थ कर सकते हो। हम कहते हैं 4 बजे उठकर हर विद्यार्थी किसी भी ग्रंथ का पाठ करे, अगर उसे कंठस्थ ना हो जाए तो हमें बताओ। इतने मोटे मोटे ग्रंथ हैं तुम्हारे।"

"तो आप अपनी असफलता का स्वयं कारण हो, ना कि भाग्य, ना कि कोई देवता। आप हमें इस विषय पर बताइए, यदि कहीं भी आपको संशय लग रहा हो।"

"ब्रह्मचर्य-हीन जीवन, स्मृति-विहीन जीवन है और ब्रह्मचर्य युक्त जीवन स्मृतिवान जीवन है। कम से कम 22 वर्ष तक तो ब्रह्मचर्य रहना चाहिए—चाहे बच्ची हो, चाहे बच्चा। 22 वर्ष तक तो दस-पांच बॉयफ्रेंड-गर्लफ्रेंड हो जाती हैं। ये व्यभिचार प्रवृत्ति है, ये गंदी प्रवृत्ति है, ये पाप प्रवृत्ति है, और वो बढ़ती चली जा रही है। तो ऐसे ही दसों बच्चों से या बच्चियों से संपर्क होता है, तो अपनी पत्नी या पति पर प्रेम नहीं होता। वे गलत धर्म से बाहर अपना जीवन व्यतीत करते हैं।"

"इसलिए हमारी प्रार्थना है—हम असफलता को सफलता में बदलने के लिए मनुष्य जीवन प्राप्त किया है। पर संयम, तपस्या, व्रत, नियम—इनके द्वारा हम अपने आए हुए बुरे प्रारब्ध पर आक्रमण करके हम विजय प्राप्त कर सकते हैं। आज ये सब कहां रह गया? बच्चियां शराब पीती हैं, सिगरेट पीती हैं। वो खुद बताती हैं। नए-नए बच्चे-बच्चियां क्लब जाना, गंदी बातें करना—अब ये कैसे पढ़ाई का समय है?"

"इस समय 20-22 वर्ष तक आप ब्रह्मचर्य रहकर पढ़िए, और यदि आपको कोई परास्त कर दे तो हमें बताइए। आप खुद अपने संयम को बिगाड़ रहे हैं, छोटे-छोटे बच्चे बिगाड़ रहे हैं। हम ये नहीं कहते कि आप किए होंगे गर्लफ्रेंड-बॉयफ्रेंड, लेकिन हम कहते हैं कि ये आदतें, ये मोबाइल की गंदी बातें, ये हमारे दिमाग को अपनी तरफ खींच लेती हैं, जिससे हम अपने चैप्टर में स्थित नहीं रह पाते और हम फेल हो जाते हैं। हमें जो कारण समझ में आ रहा है, अब अगर आपको और कोई कारण समझ में आ रहा हो तो आप बताइए।"

"We just wish to know whether the questions in our exams are within our syllabus. Are the questions strictly from our class chapters? If we write correct answers, will we still fail? Is there partiality in checking?
If I had written the correct answer, I would not have failed. Not writing correctly is a result of not studying the chapter attentively. That is our mistake. It is wrong to claim: 'We tried yet failed.' Your effort itself was faulty."

"Which girls today maintain Brahmacharya (celibacy)? Which boys pay attention to Brahmacharya? When you are supposed to study, you make boyfriends, girlfriends, indulge in wrong talk, dirty thoughts. If you fill your mind with such filth, how can you keep your chapter’s knowledge? Of course, you will fail."

"The minister, physician, and guru who speak according to the listener’s pleasure become the cause of destruction for the nation, religion, and body. If a saint, guru, or elder flatters disciples or loved ones, it is wrong. Ruin follows. If the doctor pleases the patient, destruction follows. A minister must serve politics, a physician health, and a guru must speak for the disciple’s welfare, not their pleasure."

"So if you are asked out-of-syllabus questions, that is a different matter. If you remain in your syllabus and prepare, you cannot fail."

"People have changed their own chapter. A 17-year-old girl sitting here candidly declared, 'I drink alcohol. I smoke cigarettes.' So when we speak to children now, it is rare to find a girl without a boyfriend or a boy without a girlfriend. Most children are swept away in this filth. When you have chosen to indulge the senses, accepted intoxication and bad habits, can you still focus on learning? Studying requires an ascetic life."

"Brahmacharya—pure food, waking and sleeping at the right time... and if you then fail, tell me. Since childhood, I have studied great scriptures, huge religious books. If you ask questions, I answer from there. If you yourself do not study the scriptures thoroughly, how will you get answers? Answers should be rooted in dharma, not jokes or whims. 'Therefore, let scripture be your authority.' You will not find a single word wrong. Check any scripture, it is written there. Not whatever comes to mind can be said just to satisfy you."

"So, if you do not remain Brahmachari, do not follow dharma, do not have pure food, your mind cannot function—so you are bound to fail. Yes, sometimes, after completing your graduation, you don’t get a job, that can be due to bad destiny or fate. But failing is not about destiny; your own failures are at fault—your negligence, your dirty habits."

"The time you spend on mobile phones and morally degrading activities… if that much time had been spent on your chapters, you could have mastered them. I say, wake up at 4 AM and study any scripture; if you do not memorize it, come and tell me. The books are not small—these are huge texts."

"You are yourself the cause of your failure, not fate, not some deity. If there is any doubt you have, tell me."

"A life without Brahmacharya is a life without memory, but a life with Brahmacharya is a life with memory. Up to at least 22 years, both girls and boys should maintain Brahmacharya. By 22, boys and girls have made multiple boyfriends and girlfriends. This is a habit of adultery, filth, sin, and it grows by the day. After so much mingling, love leaves the eventual spouse. Such people lead their life outside the bounds of dharma."

"So, our prayer is: we are given this human life to turn failure into success, but only by self-control, austerity, vow, discipline. Through these, we can attack and overcome our bad fate. But now, where are such practices? Girls drink alcohol and smoke cigarettes; they admit it themselves. New boys and girls frequent clubs, participate in filthy talk—how is this a time for study?"

"Until 20–22 years of age, stay Brahmachari, study, and if someone still defeats you, come tell me. You spoil your own discipline; even small children get spoiled. I'm not saying all of you have boyfriends or girlfriends, but these habits, these bad things on mobile phones, drag your mind, making you incapable of focusing on your chapters, and you fail. That is the reason I understand; if you think of another reason, then tell me."
