अंतिम संस्कार के बाद किसी Function में जाना – शास्त्र और प्रेमानंद जी महाराज की दृष्टि

संकल्प जी पटना से पूछते हैं:

"महाराज जी, हम मेडिकल फील्ड में हैं, कई बार अचानक किसी के अंतिम संस्कार में जाना पड़ता है। उसके बाद क्या उन्हीं कपड़ों में या बिना शुद्धि के किसी शादी या निमंत्रण में जा सकते हैं?"

श्री हित प्रेमानंद गोविंद शरण जी महाराज का उत्तर

1. शरीर और वस्त्र की शुद्धि आवश्यक

महाराज जी स्पष्ट कहते हैं कि जब हम किसी के दाह संस्कार (अंतिम संस्कार) में जाएं, तो हमें अपने शरीर के साथ-साथ वस्त्रों को भी शुद्ध करना चाहिए।

"हमें वस्त्र सहित स्नान करना चाहिए। अपने शरीर को पवित्र करना चाहिए। अपने वस्त्रों को धोना चाहिए। नवीन वस्त्र धारण करके फिर किसी के शुभ संस्कार में जाएं।"
अर्थ: अंतिम संस्कार के बाद उन्हीं कपड़ों और बिना स्नान के किसी भी शुभ कार्य (जैसे विवाह, नामकरण, गृह प्रवेश आदि) में नहीं जाना चाहिए1।

2. परंपरा और शास्त्रीय नियम

महाराज जी ने बताया कि परंपरा में यह था कि दाह संस्कार के स्थान (नदी, सरोवर आदि) पर ही स्नान करके, भीगे कपड़ों में ही घर आया जाता था।

"हमारे यहां की पद्धति थी कि सचल स्नान करके जिस स्थिति में गए उसी स्थिति में स्नान करके भीगे हुए कपड़ों से घर आते थे।"
अर्थ: सूखे कपड़े पहनकर या बिना स्नान के घर नहीं लौटते थे1।

3. शुभ कार्यों में जाने के लिए क्या करें?

• स्नान करें

• वस्त्र धोएं

• शुद्ध वस्त्र धारण करें

• उसके बाद ही किसी भी शुभ कार्य या फंक्शन में जाएं

"यदि हमारे पास वस्त्र हैं तो हमको पवित्र वस्त्र धारण करके शुभ कार्यों में जाना चाहिए ना कि शव यात्रा वालों को। शव यात्रा करने से हमारा शरीर और ये वस्त्र आदि अपवित्र हो जाते हैं। इनको पवित्र करना चाहिए।"1

4. मंत्र-जप और सूतक

प्रश्न आया कि अगर घर में सूतक (मृत्यु) लगा हो तो क्या गुरु मंत्र का जप कर सकते हैं?

• महाराज जी ने बताया, "हां, नहीं जपना चाहिए। मंत्र अंदर से जपना चाहिए।"

• अर्थ: बाहर से उच्चारण न करें, परंतु अंतरात्मा से स्मरण कर सकते हैं।

• भगवान का नाम स्मरण किसी भी स्थिति में किया जा सकता है, भले ही आप शौचालय में हों, लेकिन बाह्य क्रियाओं (जैसे पूजा, हवन, शुभ कार्य) के लिए शुद्धता ज़रूरी है1।

5. भगवान का नाम स्मरण

• "भगवत स्मरण उस समय भी कर सकते हो जब शौचालय में भी बैठे हो।"

• "भगवन नाम के लिए कोई बाह्य और अभ्यंतर दोनों से पवित्र हो जाता है। लेकिन यह बाह्य क्रियाओं के लिए हमें पवित्रता की आवश्यकता है।"

6. शास्त्र मर्यादा का पालन

महाराज जी ने स्पष्ट कहा:

"हमें अपने शरीर और वस्त्रों का प्रक्षालन करना ही चाहिए, उसमें कोई गणित नहीं लगानी चाहिए।"

निष्कर्ष:

• अंतिम संस्कार के बाद बिना स्नान और वस्त्र शुद्धि के किसी भी शुभ कार्य या फंक्शन में जाना शास्त्र और परंपरा के अनुसार उचित नहीं है।

• पहले स्नान करें, वस्त्र धोएं, शुद्ध वस्त्र पहनें, फिर ही किसी शुभ कार्य में भाग लें।

• भगवान का नाम स्मरण हर स्थिति में किया जा सकता है, लेकिन बाह्य क्रियाओं के लिए पवित्रता अनिवार्य है।

"Maharaj Ji, I work in the medical field. Sometimes, I have to attend a funeral suddenly. Can I, in the same clothes and without purification, go to a wedding or any auspicious function?"

Shri Hit Premanand Govind Sharan Ji Maharaj’s Guidance

1. Purification of Body and Clothes is Essential

Maharaj Ji clearly states that after attending a funeral, one must purify both the body and the clothes:

"We must bathe with our clothes on, purify our body, wash our clothes, and only after wearing fresh, clean clothes, should we attend any auspicious function."
Meaning: It is not appropriate to attend any auspicious event (like a wedding, housewarming, etc.) in the same clothes and without bathing after a funeral1.

2. Tradition and Scriptural Rules

Maharaj Ji explains that traditionally, after a funeral, people would bathe at the river or pond near the cremation ground and return home in wet clothes:

"Our tradition was to bathe at the cremation site and return home in wet clothes, not in dry ones."1

3. What Should One Do Before Attending a Function?

• Take a bath

• Wash the clothes worn at the funeral

• Wear fresh, clean clothes

• Only then, attend any auspicious function

"If you have spare clothes, you should wear clean clothes to auspicious events, not the ones worn at the funeral. The body and clothes become impure after the funeral and must be purified."1

4. Mantra Chanting and Sutak (Impurity Period)

When asked if one can chant the Guru mantra during sutak (impurity after a death in the family):

• Maharaj Ji said, "No, you should not chant aloud. You can chant internally."

• Meaning: Do not recite aloud, but internal remembrance is allowed.

• God's name can be remembered in any situation, even in the toilet, but for external rituals (like puja, havan, or attending auspicious functions), external purity is necessary1.

5. Remembrance of God’s Name

• "You can remember God’s name even when in the toilet."

• "God’s name purifies both internally and externally, but for external rituals, purity is required."1

6. Follow Scriptural Discipline

Maharaj Ji emphasized:

"We must cleanse our body and clothes; there is no calculation or exception here."

Conclusion:

• According to scriptures and tradition, it is not appropriate to attend any auspicious function or event without bathing and changing clothes after attending a funeral.

• First, bathe, wash your clothes, wear clean clothes, and only then participate in any auspicious event.

• Remembrance of God’s name is allowed in all situations, but for external rituals and functions, external purity is a must1.
